After the Second World War, Aero Caproni Trento, founded in 1940 and part of the eponymous industrial group, began designing a small motorcycle, similar to other aircraft companies, including Piaggio. Mass production of the new motorcycle, called the Capriolo, began in 1952. However, due to various financial difficulties, the company was sold in 1957 and changed its name to Aero Meccanica Regionale S.p.A., abbreviated to Aeromere. The latter continued motorcycle production and in June 1958 presented the new Capriolo 75 in the Turismo veloce, Normale, and De Luxe versions, shortly followed by other models with larger displacements. A total of approximately 16,000 units were built until 1962, when the new company also ceased operations for financial reasons. The new Capriolo models were used in various motorsport competitions, achieving numerous sporting successes.
